The Mahre family

Being a close knit family, while taking a family portrait we thought it would be fun to climb a lift tower at the summit of White Pass with Mt. Rainier in the background. This was our stomping grounds as we grew up in the ski area as our father was the mountain manager. It only seemed appropriate that we should line up by age oldest to youngest. Top to bottom: Mary, Dave Sr., Kathee, Dave Jr., Chris, Jackie, Phil, Steve, Paul, Roberta, and Ruthie.

We learned the value of a great work ethic from our father, and developed a passion for the mountains as he was involved in mountaineering. When we were young we would chase our older siblings and their friends around the mountain, which made us ski faster, developing many natural talents that helped us become two of the best in the world in the sport of alpine ski racing.
